This blog is a collection of tutorials for web programming. That includes Perl, PHP, XML, mySQL, geoplotting, web analytics and metrics, and more.
The first category to be created here will be Perl Tips. This section/ category is not precisely a beginner’s guide to Perl programming. However, we do cover some basic material as either introduction or review, depending on your level of understanding. If you are new to Perl, I suggest you pick up a book on Perl first, before continuing.
The general goal here is to learn the basic skills you need in Perl to be able to perform common webmastering/ web programming tasks. Early on in this category, I’ll only be providing Perl programs run on the commandline. This way, the functionality of each program presented is not obscured by the code needed to run as a web script.
Later, maybe a few months in, I’ll start writing Perl code to be run in a web browser. I’m also staying away for now, until I get an idea of what operating systems those of you reading this blog are using.
That said, please feel free to comment on posts, and do please tell me about your Perl environment so that I don’t have to muddle about in my examples second-guessing myself in my approach.
