Four years ago, I designed and co-wrote a book on web programming using PHP and mySQL. None of the introductory chapters on PHP, XML, WAP and other topics made it to the final print edition. My plan is to release the intro chapters on PHP on this blog.
What I have to do is massage the Microsoft Word chapter documents into HTML format, edit the text, and clean up the code, on a section-by-section basis. As such, it’ll be an ongoing project, with sections being posted here on no fixed schedule.
It is purely an introduction to PHP4, so as such, it may be slightly outdated, seeing as PHP 5 had some major changes. However, for anyone managing a website on their own domain, it is very likely that you are using some version of PHP 4, unless you have a dedicated server.
